Spirit of Freedom Capsule
On 4 July 2002, Steve Fossett completed the first solo circumnavigation of the earth in a balloon. The capsule was on display in the EAA AirVenture Museum during AirVenture 2002, where everyone had a chance to get a close up look. After display at the EAA Museum, the capsule was hung between the Bell X-1 and the “Spirit of St. Louis” in the National Air & Space Museum.
