North American P-51C Mustang

This rare P-51C crashed on 29 May 2004 during the Wings of Freedom Air Show at the Red Wing Regional Airport located between Red Wing, Minnesota and Bay City, Wisconsin. The pilot, Donald Hinz, encountered engine failure and tried to make it back to the runway when his was forced down in a nearby field. He died of his injuries.

P-51C Mustang

This rare P-51C wore the colors of the Tuskegee Airmen. In order to represent all those associated with the Tuskegee experience the aircraft was painted with markings from each of the fighter squadrons. The Minnesota Wing of the CAF acquired this airplane in 1988 and completed restoration of it in 2001.
