Dual Purpose Railway Boxcar

The "Forty and Eights" were expensively used (1917-1918) to carry American troops from French ports to their assembly and training locations during WWI. This particular boxcar was restored and dedicated on 11 November 1986.

Railway Boxcar

This French military 12 ton boxcar (the "Forty and Eights") was manufactured in 1903. It could carry 40 soldiers with equipment or eight horses w/equipment.
