Daimler-Benz
DB 601E

The Bf 109F-4 was the first mass-produced Messerschmitt version to use the DB 601 E-1 engine. This 1,350 hp, inverted-vee engine gave the Bf 109F-4 a top speed of 388 mph. It ran on standard 87 octane aviation fuel, despite its increased performance. Earlier DB 601s required 100 octane fuel.
