Messerschmitt Bf 109F-4

This Messerschmitt Bf 109F-4 was acquired through exchange with Aero Vintage Ltd., England. It was delivered to the Museum in the early part of June 1999, where it was reassembled and put on display.

The 109F appeared at the start of 1941 and proved itself to be more than equal to the Spitfire V. The only complaint most pilots had about the 109F was that is was under-armed. By the end of 1942 the 109F was largely superseded by the 109G, but remained in service until 1943..
