Polikarpov I-15bis Chaika

This “bis” is believed to be the only remaining example. It was found wrecked in Northern Russia and was fully restored in time to fly in the 2001 Moscow Air Show.

Polikarpov I-15bis
Chaika

The Polikarpov I-15bis is a revised version of the Polikarpov I-15 single-seat biplane fighter. It was armed with four 7.62 mm PV-1 or ShKAS machine guns, plus up to 150 kg (330 lb) of bombs. The I-15bis was powered by a 570 kW Shvetsov M-25V radial piston engine. It had a straight upper wing, as opposed to the gulled upper wing of the I-15. A total of 2,408 were built.
