Lippisch P.13a

The Lippisch P.13a was an experimental delta wing interceptor aircraft designed in late 1944 by Dr. Alexander Lippisch for Nazi Germany. It was designed to make use of an unusual fuel source for an airplane: coal. Liquid fuel was getting scarce, and a plane which could burn coal products would have been very desirable. The aircraft never made it past the drawing board, but wind-tunnel testing and tests of free flight models were very successful, and did not reveal any problems.
