Grumman F11F-1 Tiger (short nose)

This aircraft (BuNo 141783) is on loan from the National Museum of Naval Aviation at NAS Pensacola. It was transferred to MAPS from the Intrepid Air-Sea-Space Museum in November of 2004.

Grumman F11F-1
Tiger (short nose)

The F11F-1 Tiger first flew on 30 July 1954. The first short-nosed F11F-1s were delivered to VX-3 based at NAS Atlantic City, New Jersey in February of 1957. They were powered by a single Wright J65-W-18 turbojet engine and operated as a single seat day fighter. The F11F-1 was redesignated F-11A in 1962.
