This F9F-8P (BuNo 144402) was built by Grumman in Bethpage, New York and accepted by the Navy on 8 February 1957. It was removed from active inventory in May of 1960. MAPS received the aircraft in October of 2012.

The F9F-8 was the final fighter version of the Cougar, and 110 of them were produced as F9F-8Ps with lengthened noses that eliminated the guns and carried cameras. .
