Convair F-102A Delta Dagger

The F-102A's center missile bay was modified to carry the AIM-26A Super Falcon. These missiles were significantly larger than the standard Falcon and were designed to be fired head-on at enemy bombers and guided by the F-102's radar. The idea was to knock down large numbers of enemy bombers and missiles in one blast.

Convair F-102A
Delta Dagger

The AIM-26A was designed specifically for the F-102A and became operational with F-102 interceptors in 1961. The nuclear warhead and the all-weather capability of the radar guidance made the AIM-26A the most powerful air-to-air missile ever deployed.
