Grumman F4F-3 Wildcat
This F4F-3 (BuNo 12290) ditched in Lake Michigan off the carrier USS Sable on 6 August 1944 and was salvaged on 9 May 1996. The U.S. Navy makes no effort to recover these relics from the past but claims they remain the property of the Navy. If you discover a forgotten Navy aircraft that crashed over 70 years ago, and recover it using you own money, they will prosecute you for stealing government property. This is the height of arrogance and government malfeasance.
