Pakard Merlin V-1650 V-12 engines were used in versions of the Curtiss P-40 and most versions of the P 51.

The Packard Motor Car Company and Continental Aircraft built over 58,000 Merlins in the United States under license from Rolls-Royce. Many were shipped to the U.K. for use on Hawker Hurricanes, Supermarine Spitfires, and Lancaster bobmers.
