Ryan NYP Spirit of St. Louis

On April 30, 1928, the Spirit of St. Louis made its final flight, from St. Louis to Washington, D.C, where Lindbergh presented the aircraft to the Smithsonian Institution.

Spirit of St. Louis

On 21 May 1927, Charles A. Lindbergh completed the first solo nonstop transatlantic flight in history, flying this Ryan NYP. He named this plane the Spirit of St. Louis in honor of his supporters in St. Louis, Missouri, who paid for the aircraft. "NYP" is an acronym for "New York-Paris."
