North American P-5lD Mustang

This P-51D is displayed in the markings of the 351st Fighter Squadron, 353rd Fighter Group, Eighth U.S. Army Air Force. North American built this NASM P-51D-30-NA, Air Force serial number 44-74939, late in 1945. It was not delivered until July 1945 and never saw combat.

P-5lD-30-NA Mustang

The P-51 Mustang was the best fighter of World War II. Its combination of speed, range, maneuverability, and firepower gave it great versatility. Its use in all major theaters of the war included long-range high-altitude escort, strafing, and photo reconnaissance.
