The A-26, the last aircraft designated as an attack bomber, was designed to replace the Douglas A-20 Havoc. The A-26 Invader came into service late in WWII and also served in the Korean and Vietnam wars. In Vietnam, the type was redesignated the B-26K.

Invader

This photo was taken at Ortner Field near Wakeman, Ohio in the mid 1970s. This A-26C had been modified as an air taxi and was the only flyable aircraft I saw on the field. A total of 2,446 Invaders were built, and about 40 are still airworthy.
