Supermarine Seafire Mk.47
This is the only contra-prop Spitfire in the world. It was donated to the museum by the King of Thailand in 1962. Several planes were fitted with contra-props late in World War II in an attempt to counter the high torque produced by the Griffon engine. There was little advantage to the modification and it was not pursued.
