Reichstag

In 1933, Hitler blamed the Communists for a fire that gutted the building and used the occasion to urge President Hindenburg to pass an emergency decree that suspended civil liberties. With the communists out of the way, Hitler was able to consolidate his power.

Reichstag

The Reichstag is the seat of the German Parliament and one of Germany's most famous buildings. It was constructed between 1884 and 1894. German reunification ceremonies were held at the Reichstag at midnight on October 2, 1990. Architect Norman Foster was commissioned to design and build the dome in 1993.
