Soviet War Memorial

"For two decades the Red Army protected the peaceful, constructive labor of the Soviet people. But in June 1941, Hitler's Germany invaded our country - brutally and wickedly violating the non-aggression pact. And the Red Army was forced to mobilize to defend the homeland." - Joseph Stalin

Sixteen stone sarcophagione, one for each of the 16 Soviet Republics, line the central area of the memorial. Each has relief carvings of military scenes and quotations from Joseph Stalin, on one side in Russian, on the other side in German.
