Bortolucci and Ampelmann Stores

The Ampelmann was the little person in the pedestrian traffic lights at crossings that indicated when you should wait or walk. Before German reunification in 1990, the two German states had different forms for the Ampelmännchen and the old East German Ampelmann has become an almost cult-like figure. Most of the pedestrian traffic lights in Berlin have been changed back to the East German version due to the nostalgia associated with it.
