Bridge at Remagen
The Allies tried to repair the bridge, but, on 17 March 1945, ten days after its capture, it collapsed, killing twenty-eight U.S. soldiers. But, by then the U.S. had built pontoon bridges and had other secured crossing points and the loss was not significant.
