Statue of Ferenc Rákóczi II
Ferenc Rákóczi II, Prince of Transylvania, led an unsuccessful Hungarian war of independence (1703-1711) against the Habsburg empire. The Austrian Habsburgs suppressed the struggle through force of numbers. He went into exile and died in Turkey in 1735.
