Charles V Palace

In contrast to the light Moorish buildings, the Palace of Charles V is a monolithic imposition on the landscape. Its very groundplan shows a total unwillingness to blend in or compromise.

Charles V Palace

The Palace of Charles V is an outstanding example of Spanish Renaissance architecture. Construction started in 1526 and was interrupted by the Moorish uprising (1568). It has never been fully completed.
