Ein Gedi Nature Reserve

In the Bible, the wasteland near the spring where David sought refuge from Saul was called "the wilderness of Ein Gedi" and the camps at the top of the mountains were called the "strongholds of Ein Gedi."

Ein Gedi Nature Reserve

Ein Gedi is a nature reserve south of Qumran. The oasis is fed by four springs: David, Shulami, Ein Gedi, and Ein Arugot. The area is one of the most important archaeological sites in the Judean Desert.
