Chieftain Mk.2 Main Battle Tank

Heavily armed and armored, the Chieftain serves as a British main battle tank into the 1990s. The Chieftain's 120mm main gun made it the most powerful tank in the world when it entered service in the late 1960s. Its heavy armor offered excellent protection, but size and weight overloaded its unreliable engine. This problem was largely fixed with later models, which also received improved sensors and protection. This tank, used at the British Army Training Unit Suffield, Alberta, was donated to the Canadian War Museum in 1998.
