Igor Gouzenko

On September 5, 1945, a cypher clerk named Igor Gouzenko, working in the Soviet Embassy in Ottawa, defected and stole 109 secret documents proving that the Soviet Union was spying on Canada. These documents led to many arrests and changed Canada's views about Communism. Gouzenko went on to lead a unique life appearing several times on television where he would always hide his face for fear of assassination.
