Dolmabahçe Palace has survived intact with its original decorations, furniture, silk carpets, curtains, and other furnishings. Supposedly builders used 14 tons of gold and 40 tons of silver in decorating the palace.

Dolmabahçe Palace was built in the mid-19th century by Sultan Abdülmecit I. It stretches for 600 meters along the European shore of the Bosphorus.
