This photo was taken in 2002, a year before the Second Gulf War. Supposedly there was an oil embargo against Iraq, but, like anything involving the U.N. and international sanctions against outlaw states, it had little real affect on Iraqi oil exports.
Iraqi Oil Tanker
This photo of an Iraqi oil tanker was taken on the main road from the southern port city of Aqaba. One can see literally hundreds of these tankers in convoys taking oil to the Jordanian, Red Sea port for shipment. Sorry about the focus, we were moving pretty quickly. Who said there was an oil embargo on against Iraq?
