Lieutenant General Claire L. Chennault

Chennault served in the Army Air Corps for 20 years before retiring in 1937. He then became an air adviser to Chiang Kai-shek and formed the American Volunteer Group (AVG), also known as the Flying Tigers. Recalled to active duty in WWII, he commanded U.S. Army Air Forces in China (1942–45).
