This is one of eight similar markers placed on the National Statuary Hall floor in August 1974. All were replaced with new markers in July 1999. The other markers are for John Quincy Adams, James Buchanan, Millard Fillmore, Andrew Johnson, Franklin Pierce, James Polk, and John Tyler.
Abraham Lincoln Desk Marker
During Lincoln's tenure in the House of Representatives, House members drew their seats by lot. On December 8, 1847, Lincoln acquired desk location #191.These bronze markers (7½" x 7½") note the desk locations of the eight members, like Lincoln, who became President.
