I took this photo because it struck me as extremely pompous and egotistical to wrap one's self in a Roman toga. The man would have been more dignified in the normal dress of his day.

Edward Dickinson Baker

Baker was elected to the U.S. Senate in 1860. In 1861 he resigned this Senatorship to enter the Union Army, commanding a Brigade at the Battle Ball's Bluff, where he was killed on 21 October 1861.
