Old Senate Chamber

The Old Senate Chamber was the third Chamber used by the Senate. Completed in December 1819, the Senate used it for 40 years. In 1859 the Senate relocated to its present Chamber in the new Senate wing. The Supreme Court moved to the Chamber in 1860 and met in the room for the next 75 years. Today the restored Chamber is used primarily as a museum.
