Battleship Missouri Memorial

The USS Missouri, nicknamed the "Mighty Mo," was commissioned in 1944 and fought in the battles of Iwo Jima and Okinawa. On the deck of the Missouri in Tokyo Bay, the Japanese surrendered to United States General Douglas MacArthur and Admiral Chester W. Nimitz, ending World War II on September 2, 1945. She also fought in the Korean War and provided fire support during Operation Desert Storm in 1991.
