The Baldwin Locomotive Works built this 2-6-2 "Prairie" locomotive, No. 101, for the Tuskegee Railroad in 1924. The Chicago, Burlington & Quincy Railroad first put the 2-6-2 design into service and planned to use them along its granger lines through the farms and fields of the Midwestern prairies, thus, the 2-6-2s were dubbed "Prairies."
