Duluth, Missabe and Iron Range Steam Locomotive No. 227
DM&IR's locomotives were the only Yellowstones equipped with a high-capacity pedestal or centipede tender, and had roller bearings on all axles.

Centipede Tender

When working at full power, No. 227 could consume some 10 to 12 tons of coal an hour and evaporate water into steam at the astounding rate of 12,000 gallons per hour. It carried 26 tons of coal and 25,000 gallons of water in its tender.
