The plow consisted of three parts; the forward plow, the elevated control booth, and a rear car.

Snow Plow

The Russell Snow Plow was a large plow attached to the front of a rail car. While rotary blowers would lumber along the tracks at a slow and deliberate pace, the Russell would be pushed by a separate engine through the snow throwing it out of the way.
