The R-2800 powered the US Navy's Vought F4U Corsair, the Grumman F6F Hellcat, the US Army Air Forces' Republic P-47 Thunderbolt, the twin-engine Martin B-26 Marauder and Douglas A-26 Invader, and the first purpose-built twin-engine radar-equipped night fighter, the Northrop P-61 Black Widow.
