Boeing B-17G
Liberty Belle

This aircraft was destroyed by fire after a forced landing on June 13, 2011. It was flying out of Aurora Municipal Airport (near Chicago, Illinois) when its number 2 (inside port) engine caught fire, forcing the pilot to make a wheels-down landing in a muddy cornfield. Emergency firecrews could not quickly get to the aircraft due to the soft ground from recent rains, and the fire consumed the airframe.
