The F-8 was a single seat fighter. It carried four 20 mm cannons in the nose and U.S. HVAR rockets under the wings.

The Meteor was Israel's first Jet. The delivery of 11 F.8s started on on 21 August 1953 and was completed on 17 January 1954. They formed the nucleus of the 117th 'Hasilon Harishona' (First Jet) Squadron.
