Pratt & Whitney PW1120

The PW1120 was developed to power the Lavi but was also mounted in the Kurnass 2000 Super Phantom. This resulted in such a great improvement in performance that McDonnell Douglas scuttled the project for fear it would impact the sales of their F/A-18C/D.

PW1120

The development of the PW1120, per IAF specifications, started in June 1980. It was a derivative of the F100 turbofan that would have been built under license by Bet-Shemesh Engines Limited in Israel. The PW1120 is no longer in production.
