The Halifax carried the Boulton Paul Type E tail turret, which held four Browning Mk.II .303 guns mounted on their sides, in pairs, on either side of the gunner. Each gun had 2,500 rounds of ammunition. Late production aircraft carried the Type D turret armed with the larger caliber .50 cal. Browning guns.
