Die Pfalz bei Kaub
Pfalz Castle, or Burg Pfalzgrafenstein, is situated on a rock in the middle of the Rhine River. It was a toll-collecting station that was not to be ignored, as it worked in concert with Burg Gutenfels (on the hill in the background) and the fortified town of Kaub.
