Mount Vesuvius
The next few photos are from Pompeii, which is in the lower right of this photo and sits at the base of Mount Vesuvius. Mount Vesuvius erupted in 79 CE destroying the Roman cities of Pompeii, Herculaneum, Oplontis and Stabiae, as well as several other settlements.
I took this photo in 1976, from the window of a Boeing 707, on one of our trips to Israel.
