Damasquinados
Damascening is the application of gold or silver on iron or steel to produce a decorative pattern inlay. Here, the artisan is applying the technique to a plate. He cuts fine, narrow grooves into the surface with sharp steel cutting tools. Then gold thread or other fine wire is pressed into the grooves with a steel punch. Once the design is complete, the whole thing is fired in an oven.
