Sinagoga de Santa Maria la Blanca

The simple exterior hides a beautiful building whose five naves are separated by stone columns supporting delicate arches. It most resembles a mosque. The old church altarpiece remains.

Sinagoga de Santa Maria la Blanca

This is the oldest and largest of the city's eight original synagogues. It dates back to the 12th century. In 1391, a massacre of the Jews took place here, as a result of Saint Vicente Ferrer's anti-Semitic preaching. In 1405, it was converted into a Catholic church.
