Roman Baths
This is the Great Bath as seen from the terrace above. Much of the site is below the level of present day buildings. Over 12,000 coins (spanning the entire Roman period) were found on the Sacred Spring's bottom. The practice of throwing coins into a spring with a wish is apparently a universal human behavior.
