The P-38 was used most successfully in the Pacific Theater of Operations and the China-Burma-India Theater of Operations as the mount of America's top aces, Richard Bong (40 victories) and Thomas McGuire (38 victories).
Lockheed P-38L Lightning
This P-38L Lightning (S/N 44-53236) was manufactured in Burbank, California, and delivered to the U.S. Army Air Force on July 19, 1945. It was restored by volunteers in 1997, and given the markings of Richard Bong's P-38J Marge.
