Steamtown National Historic Site
Steamtown National Historic Site is a railroad museum and heritage railroad located on 62.48 acres in downtown Scranton, Pennsylvania, at the site of the former Scranton yards of the Delaware, Lackawanna and Western Railroad. The museum is built around a working turntable and a roundhouse that are largely replications of the original DL&W facilities. The site also features several original outbuildings dated between 1899 and 1902.
These photos were taken on 30 August 2010. The timing of my visit was a mixed blessing. The museum was preparing for Railfest 2010 on 4 September 2010. The down side to this was that the majority of the locomotives and rolling stock normally on display were moved to the rear of the museum property and were unaccessible. The up side was the ability to get some unrestricted photos of Union Pacific Big Boy No. 4012.
