Consolidated
PBY-5A Catalina

The versatile Catalina was used in WWII as a patrol aircraft, for rescuing downed airmen in the search and rescue role, and for antisubmarine warfare duties. The PBY-5A differed from earlier models in that it had retractable wheels that allowed its use from land bases.
