Finger Four Formation

This is the standard "finger four” formation of WWII. It consisted of two teams. The section leader would fly up front with his wingman on the sun side covering the opposite direction. The second team flew opposite to the sun from the leader's point of view, covering the zone against the sun, which is the most vulnerable.
