Mikoyan-Gurevich MiG-17 Fresco

The MiG-17 was the first Soviet fighter to have an afterburner engine. It was developed to replace the Korean War vintage MiG-15. An easy way to identify the MiG-17 is by the three boundary layer fences on each wing.

This MiG-17 was captured on 12 August 1968 when its pilot took a wrong turn and landed in the Galilee, thinking he had landed in Lebanon. It's armed with one 37 mm Nudelmann-Suranov NS-37 cannon and two 23 mm Nudelmann-Rikhter NR-23 cannons.
